Final Refflection

What were you goals? Did you meet these goals?
My Goal was to interpret with patients and learn all the technique to be doctor and learn oll the word that is need to be done in a office. Exactly I did not meet my Goal in the hospital. But in the office I did meet my Goal
2. What are the most important things you've learned?
The most important thing that I learn in the hospital is that people really need help. They need people to make them fell like they are home because there are no other place more than home. And I learned in the office that if you are working in a office you need to work solowly and done you work neet.
3. In what ways have your grown as a student/young adult?
The way that I learn that I grow as a young adult is because I done thing by my self and no help of other people.
4. Describe a memorable moment or experience.
the memorial moment of my internship is when I get a gift in my internship site. I will always keep the gift to remember Saint Vincent Hospital.

5. What challenges did you overcome?
The challenges that I overcome is that no one in the hospital care about me. It's like I'm a stranger in the hospital. Even if I wanted to run away I could do it, but I did not care I was there to meet my goal and not care about other people who work there.
6. What advice would you give a new intern at this site? Your answer to this question will be used next year with the upcoming juniors.
The advice that I would give for the intern next next year is that is not what you always what you want to have you will get. The most important is that to do your work and finish all your our.
7. What will you miss about your internship?
What I would miss in my internship is one of my patient. He was so nice and we use to play game so that I will make him fell that there are always people around him. Sometime also he use o ask me question about History and science. HE always tell me to focus at school.

Under graduate school in Ohio Dominican University for three years. No she don't plan to go back to school.

She earned two Master degree. First degree in Xavier University. Second Master Columbia University in New York City. She attend graduate school for an advanced degree. She earned doctor degree.

She choose her profession field because she taught she can make difference in the field of education

She get involved in this field of work because she wanted to make health care education and bring her background education to health care

Some of the challenges she have faced working here is that she don't have to much staff, she need more space.

She had worked somewhere else before this job. She was working before in Columbus Soho. She was an assistance of supper. It was similar because she was managing and still managing. It is different because she was in charge of people who was employer.

MIDPOINT REFLECTION

How has the internship been the same as and/or different than your expectations?
The internship has been different than my expectation. I work in a nursing floor but that floor my manager don't even look at me. I fell sometime so boring because there is anything to do. But the office is better because I have a lot of work to do and I'm getting some experience of how people work in office. I know now working in office is a very difficult thing to do and there is no time to play.

What is similar and different about the culture of the school environment versus the workplace environment?
The similar ant culture of my school and the environment versus the workplace environment are we all work very hard to help other, people are from everywhere and speak different language. The diferent is that at school there is to much noize sometime the student fight and they don't listen to their teachers. But in a hospital like Saint Vainsant Hospital everyone respect each other, they work very hard, they are very busy, and the people have to do all that their chief say.

What new skills have you learned that apply to the workplace? Which of these are transferable skills?
The new skills that I learned that apply the workplace are: Communication skill: before I was very shy to speak with the patients or my co-worker. But new I speak a lot and ask question to the things that I don't now. Organized skill : In the office I organize many documents. Sometime I have to files many papers and put it in alphabetic order.

What kind of relationship do you have with your mentor and co-workers? How have you grown as a result of interacting with professional adults? What kinds of communication (verbal and non-verbal skills) have you gained?
I have a very good relation with my mentor or co-workers because I give them respect and they give me also respect. I have grown as a result of interacting with professional adults because I gained many skills and it helped me grow like a women. I gained the verbal communication because sometime I talk to the patient or sometime I speak in the phone with many people who need help in their office. so they call me to go help them. After I fell so proud of my self because I did a good job.

What challenges at the internship have you faced that you have overcome and how did you overcome them?
Exactly I did not face any challenges in my internship. Since that I started my internship everything is fine. And I hope it will continue until I finish my internship.

What challenges have you faced in school as a result of the altered schedule and how are you handling them?
Exactly I did not face any challenges as a result of the altered schedule. Every time I get homework and I have to go to my internship I manage my time. Like I leave Brooklyn to go to Manhattan it take me many hours to arrive, so I do all my homework in the train.

What goals are you working to accomplish during the remaining five weeks of the internship?
The goals that I'm working to accomplish during the remaining five weeks is to gain the skills of how the doctors interact with each other.
What new things have you learned about New York City?
New things that I learned about New York City it is a beautiful city, people are very busy, and they are also friendly

my fourth day of internship



PART 1
What is it?
It is a hospital

What kind of business is it and what kind of work do the professionals do there?
the kind of business people do is a lot, because there is many different type of doctors and types of job Example nursing, patient transport, etc.....

Where is it? What is the neighborhood like compared to where our school is?
the hospital is in MANHATTAN 170 West 12th Street, NY, 10011. The neighborhood like to work hard and get money.
Tell a little about your mentor.

What kinds of things have you done so far?
The kinds of thing I have done so far is to help the patients, make them feel like they are in their houses.


What were some of the highlights of the fourth week? (Memorable moments, cool things, incredibly difficult things...)
The highlights of the fourth week was very exiting because I get to learn new skills and how to interact with people. But some time it is hard because in the nersing floor they don't give us job and I find it difficult for me to stay there for 4 hours and I don't do nothing

I leave at school at 11:40

It take me 1 hours to take to my internship


When do you arrive at home?
I arrive at home at 6 pm

I work Monday, Tuesday, and thurday. I work for each day 4 hours.

Each day that I go to the hospital the person that have to sign my time card is my mentor

How was the fourth week different than the third week?
There is no different between my third week and my fourth week because I do the same job everyday.

What is something that you really like about the internship?
Something I really like about my internship is to help the patient, and the people that I work with are very nice.

What is something you dislike about the internship?
I don't like the nursing floor because they don't give me something to do and I have to write in my blog I don't write nothing important about the nursing floor. That floor make me boring
